- Lunar Eclipse - Winter Solstice 2010
Sky gazers across North America were dazzled by the first lunar eclipse to fall on the same day as the winter solstice in 372 years.
A lunar eclipse takes place when the sun, Earth and moon are all perfectly aligned with the Earth in the middle. When the moon passes behind the Earth, the sun's rays are blocked from striking the moon. This can only occur when the moon is full.

- Sun dog
Sun dogs are visible when the sun is near the horizon and on the same horizontal plane as the observer and the ice crystals. As sunlight passes through the ice crystals, it is bent by 22 degrees before reaching our eyes, much like what happens with 22 degree halos. This bending of light results in the formation of a sundog.

- Nockamixon State Park
The 5,283-acre Nockamixon State Park is in the rolling hills of scenic Bucks County, close enough to Philadelphia for a day trip, but far enough away for a vacation. Tohickon Creek, Three Mile Run and Haycock Run feed the 1,450-acre Lake Nockamixon, which is a rest stop for migrating waterfowl and is a destination for boaters and anglers. Picnicking, swimming in the pool, and exploring the park’s forests and fields are popular activities, as is staying the night in a cabin.

- Late Summer at Quehanna
Quehanna Wild Area was Pennsylvania's first large forest area, which encompassed 48,186 acres and was administered by both the Moshannon and Elk Forest Districts. The area features a spectacular forest of white birch trees and a rock formation known as Panther Rocks with colossal boulders ranging in size from 80 to 270 feet. Great for hiking, backpackers can explore the region as an important birding area for great birdwatching. So, if you enjoy the outdoors, the Quehanna Wild Area is for you.

- A Peace Valley Autumn
For walkers, Peace Valley Park is the crown jewel in the Bucks County park system. The park surrounds Lake Galena, a narrow lake more than two miles long that is bounded by hills rising to the north and south. Its facilities include picnic areas for groups large and small, a boat-launch ramp, boat rentals, fishing piers, and children’s play areas. For walkers, however, Peace Valley’s trails (and their glorious views) are the park’s defining feature. Peace Valley has fourteen miles of unpaved nature trails as well as a paved bike/hike path that goes most of the way around the lake. The paved path is generally level, as are many of the nature trails, although a few of these do get a little hilly. Surface: Paved and gravel paths, woodland trails.
